Business Buddy is a web based business suite tailored to meet the needs of small businesses. The Business Buddy idea originated in 2019 when there was a gap observed between small businesses and massive enterprise software solutions. The lack of diversity in the online service provider space compelled Socius, LLC to create Business Buddy.
As a new Software as a Service (SaaS) company, Socius, LLC decided to create the accounting module of the suite first. On February 24th, 2022 the Business Buddy accounting module went on sale to the public. Ever since, we at Business Buddy have been striving to provide seamless business applications with the best service possible.

Our vision of Business Buddy Accounting was to create a simple, inexpensive and powerful solution. A system that doesn't take an expert to use but gives you expert results. The development process was challenging because each accounting feature added increased complexity to the user's experience and added time to the learning process. As with every solution, the hardest part was the question of what and what not to include.
Let's dive into Business Buddy Accounting.
The Dashboard
The dashboard for Business Buddy Accounting is the first thing you see once you log into the system. When we developed this, the goal was to include multiple visual aids to give the user an informative overview of their current financial situation. The visual aids displayed on the dashboard are:
1. Money Bar - Running along the top of the dashboard are 4 widgets we call the Business Buddy Money Bar. Together these widgets give you your YTD (Year to Date) revenue, expenses, current bank balance, and total ($) amount of open invoices.
2. Cash Flow Chart - In the middle of the dashboard is a cash flow chart that compares gross revenue, gross expenses and total profit for January through December. This gives the user ability to see the current monthly performance as well as the trend for the year.
3. YTD Expense & Revenue Pie Charts - Along the bottom of the dashboard are 3 pie charts that breakdown the sources of the users expenses and revenue. The charts run left to right as follows: YTD expense breakdown, current month revenue breakdown, and YTD revenue breakdown. Combined, these charts give insight into many things; but most importantly they display the largest expenditures of your business and the largest sources of revenue.
4. Open/Late Invoice widget and Quick Links - The last pieces of the dashboard are the invoice tracker and the quick links. The invoice tracker is a small push bar that displays the dollar amount of open invoices, compared to the amount of late invoices. This is accompanied by 5 quick links that give easy navigation to add new transactions, new customers, new vendors, new invoices, or even view your financial reports.
Custom Report Generator
Every business needs access to solid financial reporting. The reports section of Business Buddy Accounting allows users to generate 3 different types of reports: Transaction Ledger, Profit/Loss, and Expense reports. These reports can be modified to pull data from any specific date and view any time frame desired. This makes it very easy to see historical data in a nice a neat fashion.
